Are you looking for something to help build your child’s confidence? Are you searching for an activity to help cut down on a growing amount of screen time? Do you want to arm your children with the tools necessary to work within a team? The Juniors Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for 10 -14 year olds class at SBG Athens is just what your son or daughter needs. We have been coaching youth Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Athens, GA since 2009 (teaching martial arts and self defense in Athens since 1997 at UGA).
Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program for 10-14 year olds (Juniors Jiu Jitsu) has been helping Athens, GA youth both on and off the mats. Not only does Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) provide a great physical workout, but it also helps teach young boys and girls how to confidently avoid confrontation. That’s right, our Black Belt coaches will teach your children how to stand tall, speak up, and speak out to bullies. Our Growing Gorillas Juniors Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program will teach your child the practical art of BJJ in Athens, GA.
The martial art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has been pressure tested at the highest levels of sport as well as the real-life situations seen within our law enforcement and military communities. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has proven itself time and again. If you are unfamiliar with BJJ, think High School wrestling with ways to make the other person say “uncle” or “I quit” versus trying to just pin your opponent on their backs.
BJJ is a great workout both physically and mentally. One of the many wonderful benefits to kids martial arts classes in Athens, Georgia is how it makes its practitioners problem solve and look for solutions. BJJ will help your child learn how to fail the right way by not giving up. We have worked hard to create a safe training environment to help our members feel comfortable while being uncomfortable. We can’t think of another activity where this is as important as it is here.
Our program will also help teach your child about hard work and dedication. Our ranking/belt system is based off time on the mats as well as comprehension of the material. Everything here is earned as we don’t charge any belt testing fees common at many other martial arts facilities. Keeping on the topic of belts; Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is different from many other martial arts insofar as a person must be 18 to earn a BJJ Black Belt.
All our kid’s martial arts coaches are homegrown; meaning they have been with Coaches Adam and Rory Singer from when they first tied on their white belts. They have passed multiple background checks and been through hours of instruction on the mat and in the classroom to help provide the best experience to our students.
Your children will not only learn self-defense, but they will also learn valuable life skills that will pay huge dividends throughout their lives. Learning simple things, such as saying yes ma’am and no ma’am, to learning how to help their community, will give them an advantage over students in other sports. We hope to help teach your children how to be leaders and role models inside our academy, at school, and in your home.
We would love all our students to be gold winning competitors at the highest levels of youth competition but understand that might not be for everyone. If competitions and gold medals are your child’s vision, we can absolutely help them realize that goal, as we have done with others before them. In the end, if your child enjoys coming to class, is learning a valuable skill, is having some laughs, and has made new friends; our coaches will know they’ve done a great job.
Many of our student’s parents view our coaches as partners in helping mold their kids into amazing young adults. We take that honor very seriously and cherish that partnership. Here at SBG Athens, we also provide opportunities for teaching our youth about giving back and community service. We do this because we realize that martial arts are only part of our mission. Whether it’s organizing road cleanups or collecting food and toys for those in need; we hope to inspire you and your family to be the best you can be both on and off the mats. We look forward to meeting you and your family when you schedule your child’s free class.
